Chrono comes from the greek word khronos which means time. A chronograph shows elapsed time. That is what a watch does anyway. Basically watches and clocks are chronographs, hence chrono is a popular name for watches.
Chrono watches tend to have dial faces with hands that tell the time, as opposed to the digital watches that show numbers only. Chrono watches are better looking than the digital ones. Some have multiple dials within the main watch face for more information. They look cooler too.
