It's almost downright creepy. Reading the Tide Height: The tide is graphically represented with the crescent shape that is thicker at the 12 o clock position and thinner and the 6 o clock position. High tide can be recognized when the tide hand is at the 12 o clock position. Low tide can be recognized when the tide hand is at the 6 o clock position. As the tide moves from 12 to 6 the tide will be falling. As the tide hand moves from 6 to 12 the tide will be rising. Reading the Moon Phase: When the moon hand is either the Full Moon (12 o clock) or New Moon (6 o clock) position the high tides will be higher and low tide will be lower. When the moon hand is in either the first quarter (3 o clock) or the last quarter (9 o clock) the difference between the high and low tides will be less drastic.
